The chiefs of Sirohi belonged to the Deora Rajput clan of Prithvi Raj Chauhan. The Chauhans started moving westwards to eventually settle in Bhinmal and Sanchor. The old town of Sirohi was established by Rao Sobha in 1405. The Princely State of Sirohi State belonged to Rajputana during the colonial era and became a part of Rajasthan on 16th November 1949.
